Those were made by J.P. Sauer and that company later became the Sig Sauer sp we know today. They are very well built and the .44s had recessed chambers for a while just like the early S&W 29s. I had one in .45 Colt many years ago. Also the big Herters single action as in .357, ..........44 Magnum and 401 Powermag were all made by that outfit. I believe that you might find that your cylinder pin does not have the extra safety notch that the newer imported single actions have. That is because it was imported before the feds required it.
